ages ago we had a class on sparta and the surrounding countries and we were taught that many men respected their wives opinions and valued them immensely, many wives were often considered the “lord” of the house and so the men would ask them for advice a lot cuz they knew more shit about dat yo

In a society where women were valued for JUUUST a bit more than making babies. Although women couldn’t vote in assembly, they had tons of influence in the matter. They could own property and owned just a bit over a third of Sparta; encouraged to develop education; took charge of almost everything outside of the army.
